We have opening for a few theoretical postdoc positions in the subject of quantum information and condensed matter physics in the group of Dr. Abolfazl Bayat at University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in Chengdu. The focus of research is to explore different aspects of many-body systems using quantum information tools. The projects will focus on:
1- Quantum sensing
2- Non-equilibrium dynamics of many-body systems.
3- Many-body localization
4- Quantum simulators
The projects are mainly based on numerical simulations using Density Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG) and novel machine learning techniques such as neural networks and Bayesian estimators.
The candidates should be under the age of 35 and have a background in at least one of these fields: many-body systems, condensed matter physics or quantum information. Previous numerical experiences with matrix product states and machine learning are advantageous.
The initial duration of the contract is 2 years with possible extensions. The starting of the position will be around April 2018 but can also be negotiated.
Salaries and benefits
Competitive annual salary and additional bonus for specific achievements will be provided. A daily academic fund about 10,000 RMB/per year and a set of residence in China will be offered. Postdoc with foreign nationality (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) will enjoy a reimbursement at most 10,000 RMB expense for international travel or family visiting per year.

Prof. Abolfazl Bayat mainly engaged in research on quantum information and condensed matter physics, he is currently working at University of Electronic and Science Technology of China. He received his PhD from Sharif University of Technology in 2008. After that, he had an Postdoctoral Research experience in University College London and Institute of Theoretical Physics, Ulm University.
In 2016, Prof. Abolfazl Bayat was selected as Expert of National 1000-Talents Youth Program of China. He has published more than 32 papers on relevant first-rate international journals such as Nature Communication, Physical Review Letter, Physical Review B, Physical Review A and so on, with more than 619 Google Scholar citations and h-index 17. He also serves as peer reviewer for many journals such as Physical Review journals, New Journal of Physics and Scientific Reports and so on.
